Hospice Tairawhiti - a cornerstone of palliative care

Hospice Tairawhiti, a cornerstone of palliative care in Gisborne since 1980, unveiled its new $3.2 million facility on Ormond Road in early 2023. The 740-square-metre building, blessed in a ceremony led by Ringatu church leaders, serves as a hub for staff, volunteers, and whanau, enhancing the delivery of free, community-based hospice services. This modern space allows for expanded support, ensuring patients and their families receive compassionate care in a setting that reflects the hospice's commitment to dignity and comfort.

In a significant step forward for the region, Dawson Building Company was entrusted with constructing Hospice Tairawhiti’s modern, purpose-built facility. The project reflects a shared commitment to delivering exceptional end-of-life care in a supportive, welcoming environment.
